We have the opportunity in our team to have students from different backgrounds and different universities!
McGill works with Desjardins for student insurance and since we are all graduate students, it would fall under PGSS (post-graduate students society) Health and Dental plans. Canadien insurance coverage is calculated differently, if you are a Canadien or permanent resident (holding a permanent residency card) please refer here! Just as a summary, your plan offers:
Note: You should pay for prescription drugs and then submit the reimbursement document to the studentcare website! It is a very easy process!
Note: You can check the prices and whether your prescription drugs would be covered or not here! From our experience, most of the generic drugs would be covered but to make sure please check!
Note: Your insurance will be renewed each school year, so submit the reimbursement documents before Aug. 31st! The current policy year is from Sept. 1, 2022 – Aug. 31, 2023.
If you are an international student or exchange student you are automatically already payed for IHI (International Health Insurance) upon your registration.
You can find the instructions of how to activate your card, ask for exemption or add dependants (refer to each link)!
All foreign students attending the UdeM are automatically signed up for group medical insurance. The plan covers medical and hospital fees and prescription drugs. It does not cover glasses. The plan also includes a repatriation clause in the event of death or incapacity. The Fédération des associations étudiantes du campus de l'UdeM (Federation of Student Associations of the UdeM campus), or FAECUM, offers a dental health insurance plan only for regular students (exchange students are excluded). The premium is $128 per year and is added to the tuition.
